Yes. We have two appraisal options to choose from; a verbal appraisal and a written appraisal. Regardless of the option you choose both include a professional evaluation by one of our qualified staff numismatists.
Our most frequent and popular appraisal option is our free 15-20 minute verbal appraisal. Your coin or (limited) collection is evaluated and a verbal and approximate current market value is given. In those cases, where one is not able to physically visit our Bloomington, MN location we provide mail-in services and professional numismatic evaluations over the Internet as well. Just send us high-resolution obverse and reverse photographs to info@CoinsOnLine.com and we’ll respond in a timely manner.
Our written and dated appraisal option is generally needed in those cases where an estate, trust or an insurance matter requires a more formal evaluation and a written appraisal report to be completed. Our professional numismatic research and appraisal services including a dated and written report are charged at a per man hour hourly rate/fee. Written appraisal values can be provided in two ways:
- Liquidation Value: The prices indicated represent the prices American Rare Coin would pay at the time the appraisal is completed. At that point in time if American Rare Coin were to purchase the collection any and all appraisals fees would be waived. A sliding fee scale is used if American Rare Coin were to later purchase the collection within a reasonable timeframe.
- Replacement Value: The prices indicated represent what the Client could reasonably expect to pay to replace the items with same or similar items.
Generally speaking our appraisal processes really depend upon the type of product(s) involved be it collector and rare coins, currency or all forms of precious metals including gold, silver, platinum and palladium, the amount of product involved and most especially whether or not there is a need for a formal and dated written appraisal.
