Most of our specials and individual coins can be purchased without a deposit. On large bullion orders however, a deposit of 25% may be required prior to order confirmation. See our Buying Process Terms and Conditions page for more detailed information.
What forms of payment do you offer and how fast do I get paid?
We will issue you a company check at the time you decide to sell.
If you sell us your item(s) in person and at our store – you’ll receive a company check on the spot!
If you elect instead to mail your item(s) to us using our popular Mail-In Option, we will issue you a company check within 24 hours of our confirmation of receipt and evaluation.
For larger transactions payments are also available via wire transfer – a small fee shall apply.
If I mail items to you, when do we lock-in a price?
Upon receipt of your shipment we open your package(s) and lock in the spot price(s) at that time.
We’ll contact you via telephone confirming our receipt; we’ll confirm the spot price(s) and we’ll discuss with you the details of your pending transaction. If at that time you decide to sell, we’ll issue a Confirmation/Purchase Order Number to confirm our purchase. We’ll then send you a company check or for larger transactions, we’ll transmit funds to you via wire transfer for a small nominal fee. It’s your choice. It’s that easy. See our popular Mail-In Option here.
What if I decide not to sell?
If you decide not to sell – no problem. The decision to sell or not to sell is entirely up to you. No pressure. No questions asked. If we cannot agree on a price for instance, we will immediately return your product to you at our cost. If you sent your product(s) to us via the U.S. Post Mail Service (USPS) we’ll return your product(s) to you Registered and Insured via U.S. Post Mail Service and at our full and complete expense. We are that confident in our pricing – seldom are we asked to return product to a prospective seller!
Do you pay more than the guys who rent hotel rooms and advertise to buy everything?
Most always, yes! These types of outfits are often referred to as “road buyers” within the industry. Here today, gone tomorrow… Typically, a road buyer will pay only a fraction of the prices we pay. The full page color ads they run in the newspapers can cost upwards of $10,000, even $100,000! They travel with a crew of people, they rent a hotel room and they blanket the area with loud and nebulous proclamations of “top dollar” and “highest prices paid” and they incur large expenses along the way. For them it’s a volume play, pay less and move quickly from town to town. From an economic standpoint, they simply can’t afford to pay the prices that we can pay. Worst of all, they are again, here today and gone tomorrow. If they see something rare and of value within your collection, the chances that they will point it out to you (and pay more for it) are very slim. After Checking Angie’s List for Coin Dealers I Called American Rare Coin…
I had a number of coins and wanted to see what they were worth. I was also interested in potentially selling them. Upon calling I received a same day appointment and was told most appointments take under an hour. I had looked at their website which was very easy to navigate. My coins were sorted similar to how their website is set up. I arrived and Mark said he would help me. He was great at providing both estimates and education. He clearly explained the various types of coins I had, what they were worth and why. There was no pressure to sell the coins but he was willing to buy any and all that were more than face value. Mark offered options with some Canadian coins that were in the mix. I sold most of the coins and walked out with a check that was more than I expected. The entire experience was excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
